If you only have one day to see it all, or you just march to a different drum, this may be the tour for you.

Edinburgh On and Off Bus

If you want to visit Edinburgh at your own pace and with no rush, the double-decker hop on, hop off bus is your best option! You can get on and off all day long, with the same ticket, and learn about the history of the city through a comfortable audio system with earphones, narrated in 9 languages.

Edinburgh has been the capital of Scotland since the 15th century and stands proudly on seven hills, creating the dramatic skyline of this lively cosmopolitan city. What better way to see this fantastic city than from the top of a double decker bus? Compare Edinburgh's Old Town, where families lived in cramped conditions and rubbish was thrown out of the windows, to the elegant Georgian New Town with its three main streets and a square at either end. Hear about the hangings that took place in the Grassmarket, as you marvel at the impenetrable Castle Rock above you and hear about the attempts to capture Edinburgh Castle. See the Royal Mile, which joins Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyrood House. Your tour will highlight all the things to do and see in Edinburgh as you tour through the city streets.

Please Note: Due to an event throughout August, the Johnston Terrace and Chambers Street stops will not be in operation until August 26th. The nearest bus stop to the cruise ship terminal is approximately 3.5 kilometers from the Leith Cruise Terminal, and can be reached by bus or taxi. The approximate bus fare is 1.30 GBP. Exact fare is required. A taxi from the pier costs approximately 10 GBP. There are 14 stops on this route and it takes approximately 65 minutes to complete the route without getting off. The bus runs every 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the season. The tour is narrated in English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Mandarin, Japanese, and Russian. There is also a commentary for kids to enjoy called "Horrible Histories." The frequency of the buses and the first and last tour times vary by season and will be detailed in your electronic ticket.
